Stage of Bud: Tight Cluster at the UVM HRC

Apple Scab: As of this morning, we had accumulated 223 DD   (Base 32F) from Green Tip. This indicates that ascospore maturity at the UVM HRC is approx. 15 %. To estimate % ascospore maturity in your orchard, subtract 32 from the average daily temp and add up the differences. A chart in which you can look up the estimated maturity in your orchard based on the accumulated DD was included in the last mailing of the Vermont Apple Newsletter. Note that at 300 DD we enter the 'accelerated phase' of ascospore maturity -- a time of high risk.
