Apple Maggot Flies(AMF):  We started catching AMF flies last week on baited red spheres but numbers were well below threshold.   Given the warm and wet conditions, we are expecting higher trap captures this week.

Codling Moth:  The model for 2nd generation codling moth larvae predicts that a spray should be applied in problem orchards 1260 DD (base 50 F) after the start of the first flight (biofix).  At the UVM Hort.Res.Center,  we are currently at 641 DD from May 7th, which was the biofix at this site.

Flyspeck:  Warm, humid weather is favorable for growth of both the sooty blotch and flyspeck fungi.   At the UVM Hort.Res.Center, we have accumulated 175 hours of leaf wetness since 10 days after petal fall (6/05).   Fungicides that do not have any eradicant activity against flyspeck (e.g., captan) should be applied before 270 hours of leaf wetness, starting at 10 days after petal fall,  are reached.
