Congratulations to Linda

Linda Boccuzzo is this year's recipient of the C. Lyman Calahan Award - This award is presented by the Vermont Tree Fruit Growers Association in honor of C. Lyman Calahan, a long time Extension Horticulturist who helped the Vermont apple growers for many years. This $500 award is presented to a student showing promise and interest

in  commercial horticulture
Linda is a Master's graduate student whose research emphasis is on the study of winter hardiness of apple cultivars. This research will help provide information to growers as to the adaptability to Vermont's winters of  newer cultivars.  In addition, as a graduate assistant, she takes care of many of the horticultural operations at the UVM HRC. 
She is a very dedicated, highly motivated student, and extremely dependable.  She began to work on her degree during the 98' Fall and should be obtaining her degree this fall.
