An IPM Checklist for Vermont
As indicated in the March issue of the Vermont
Apple Newsletter, each issue will contain parts of the IPM Checklist that
Dr. Elena Garcia and I developed through a USDA project entitled: "Linking
Food Safety to Farm*A*Sys and IPM to Reduce Microbial and Pesticide Risks in Apples.
Its purpose is to serve as a quick reminder; details can be found in other
parts of this newsletter or in other available resources.
[Note: ST
through Pink Bud Stage appeared
in the March issue.]

During late Bloom, begin to inspect fruit on early-blooming cultivars in
perimeter rows for fresh Plum Curculio egg-laying scars.
Identify wild or non-sprayed apple and
hawthorne trees near the orchard since these may harbor apple pests. See if the
trees could be removed to reduce pest pressure.
Bring bees colonies at 10% to 15%
bloom
