IDFTA and VTFGA Summer tour

Vermont and New York will be the site for the International Dwarf Tree Growers Association (IDFTA) Summer tour.  The tour officially begins on the evening of Sunday, June 25 and ends on the evening of Tuesday, June 27.  However, there will be a preliminary tour in Canada on Sunday.  The VTFGA will be joining the IDFTA for their summer tour.  I will be sending more details on the tour as these are finalized.  I just wanted you to mark the dates on your calendar.

Summer orchard visits

Summer will be with us before we know it, and as we have done in the previous two years, Lorraine and I will be conducting orchard visits (one of the most pleasant part of our jobs).  We are planning to start earlier than the previous years so we can fit in more visits.   am including a postcard to be filled out and returned to us if you wish us to come to visit your orchard.  This year we will try to visit orchards that we have not visited before.

Twilight Orchard Meetings
We are planning to have a Twilight Orchard Meeting at two locations in the state as an update on horticultural (assessment of  fruit set, thinning options, etc. ) and IPM issues. The two locations and  dates are:
May 9  at Vermont Apple Orchards, Saxtons River
May 11 at Noggin Orchard, Shoreham
